Consumers are often confused between Australian made, Product of Australia, Australian owned and Australian grown labels and what they mean, this post will out line the criteria to get the Australian made, owned or grown labels.
Australian made.
For something to be Australian made at least 50% the cost of production of the product must happen in Australia. Also the final manufacturing process of the product must take place in Australia.

Product of Australia.
For something to be a product of Australia all of a product’s main ingredients must come from Australia, and all or virtually all of the manufacturing or processing must also be carried out in Australia.

Australian Grown.
For Something to be Australian Grown each of the main ingredient must be grown in Australia, and all or virtually all of the processes involved in the production of the product must have occurred in Australia.

Australian owned
When a company manufactures in Australia it employs Australians, pays taxes here and adds value to our economy. Some Australian owned companies do not manufacture here. So Australian owned is great. But Australian made or grown is best. Many companies whose products are both Australian made and owned use the label on the left.

We hope that makes things clearer.
